Maria Montessori began devloping her philosophy in 1897. In 1907, she opened her first classroom, the Casa dei Bambini, or Children's House, in a tenement building in Rome. From the beginning, Montessori based her work on her observations of children as they interacted with the environment, materials, and lessons available to them.
Montessori education is an educational approach that is based on Maria's observations of human development. She observed that children under the age of six has an innate path of psychological development and that children given the liberty to choose and act freely in their environment learned best and became confident, happy human beings.
Our school has constructed an educational environment tailored to the specifics of child development at each stage of learning. The classrooms are arranged to facilitate movement and activity with tools being presented in an engaging manner and at the child's level to encourage independence.
After 20 years of providing authentic Montessori education to children in Elk Grove and Sacramento, Vineyard Montessori is expanding. In September of 2017, we opened our sister school, Vineyard Montessori, located at 8827 Gerber Rd. in Sacramento. At this time, we are only accepting new enrollment at Vineyard.
